Route and parking

By car

From Amsterdam or Hoorn follow the N247 towards Volendam. At the roundabout at the Van der Valk Hotel, turn right (from Amsterdam) or left (from Hoorn). After 2 km you reach Volendam.


Follow the signs to the center via the Julianaweg. There are various parking facilities around the center, most of which are free! There are also parking spaces with electric charging facilities nearby.


Please note: due to roadworks at the roundabout next to the museum, you will be diverted via an alternative route. The AMVO car park opposite the museum is accessible via Bokkingstraat.


The address of the museum is: Zeestraat 41, 1131 ZD Volendam.

Public transport or coach

If you come to the Volendam Museum by public transport, it is best to take bus number 110 or 316 from Amsterdam. Please note: Due to roadworks at the roundabout near the museum, the Zeestraat/Centrum stop is temporarily out of service.


Temporary exit stop: Weegschaalstraat/Centrum (marked as 'Centrum' – follow the walking route via the signs towards the city centre and the museum).


Are you coming by coach? If so, special signage will direct you to the car park on Parallelweg. The drop-off point at the museum is temporarily out of use.

Parking in Volendam

There are several places in Volendam where you can park your car easily and for free. The center of Volendam has various blue zones where you can only park for a short period of time with a blue card. No blue card? Buy it in the museum shop. On the outskirts of Volendam you will find several parking facilities for longer free parking and there are also a number of covered parking garages near the museum where you can park for a fee.

AMVO-parking lot

You can park opposite the Volendam Museum in the AMVO parking lot.

Please note: this is a blue zone. You can park here for a maximum of 1.5 hours with a blue card.

Electric charging points nearby

If you are visiting Volendam by electric car, there are various public charging points available in and around the center. Current availability may vary at any given moment. There are 4 public charging points in the AMVO car park in the center, directly opposite the museum, and 2 additional public charging points are available 200 meters from the museum on Wilgenlaan near Apotheek Volendam.
