Exhibition
''Maurice Siskin, Taster of the South Sea and Singer of sunlight''
From 8 March, we have a special exhibition of the painter Maurice Sijs (1880-1972). This Belgian painter had lost his heart to Volendam. He created the most beautiful works of art of the beautiful botters and the harbour. He lived by the harbour for a long time where he had a special view of the sea and everything that lived there.
Maurice Sijs is the painter of the sea; the sea, in the glow of happy sunlight, the sea seen on a grey, sad day, the sea with sloops and ships, the sea in its deepest solitude.
